About HeathTerm

HealthTerm Content

The key to interoperability, is the speak the same clinical data ‘language’, i.e. SNOMED, ICD-10 or LOINC.  Store, update and manage your clinical data language(s) in HealthTerm, and map to standard code systems to ensure you (and your consumers) are utilizing standard, consistent, relevant data. HealthTerm can be pre-loaded with international standard code systems – over 200 code systems in our library.  We don’t stop there – we have over 2,000 mapsets and subsets from which to choose. Some of our widely-used subsets include clinical quality measure value sets, condition/problem/diagnosis grouping, and special or custom customer defined subsets.

HealthTerm also supports custom/local code system additions, without CareCom intervention or added cost.  Standard content can be updated as a service, or locally by your own staff.  You can choose to update when and how it works for your organization. We also provide simple file formats to create your own local code set, with options for a simple ‘flat’ or multi-hierarchical ontology structure. We provide not only content, but also flexibility.

HealthTerm’s advanced browser module gives users options for a ‘quick’ view of a concept, as well as more advanced, query-based search option.  With all the search options, the concept details and its relationships are viewed in an easy to read format.  Each concept is also linked to any applicable mapsets and subsets, giving the user a complete view of how and where the concept is utilized.

Concept and Browsing Features:

  • Displays all types of code systems, hierarchical as well as poly-hierarchical
  • Quick overview and history of all components
  • Language management of the displayed content
  • Concepts in tree structure as well as a detailed view
  • Strong search capability incorporating multiple filter options
  • View all mappings and subsets of a concept
  • Concept hierarchy visualization in a graphical format

The subset module is one of the core components in the HealthTerm platform. It is used across many other modules to create and maintain subsets of the often very large code systems. All subsets built in HealthTerm are based on expressions; subsets are expressed as rules – e.g. “all concepts in SNOMED CT, under ‘acute disorders’ and which have a ‘finding site’ relationship to the ‘kidney’.” This query-based subset creation function makes it fast, easy and precise to build relevant subsets. Updating subsets is just as easy; when content is updated, just re-run the subset query. Fast, flexible and repeatable.

Subset Features:

  • Subsets are built on expressions – or queries
  • Expressions can be added, subtracted and/or intersected
  • Group expressions that can be added, subtracted and/or intersected
  • Subsets are versioned with a full history
  • QA in workflow process
  • Exportable to Word, Excel, text files or online web service calls
