Brooklyn, NY May 1, 2018 – CareCom U.S. a leading provider of terminology services management, today announced it has joined the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC) as a Strategic Business and Technology (SB&T) Partner. HealthTerm® powered by CareCom is a leading, global terminology management vendor. HealthTerm enables the acquisition of data from hospitals, providers and other clinical applications and then standardizes the data to a standard ‘language’ or code system to view normalized data in an HIE platform. Maintaining a common language(s) is also essential in quality measure documentation, reporting, and scores; which can translate to substantial cost savings and CMS performance payments. Whether you are a public or private HIE, the value of a common terminology is imperative to patient care. Healthcare Organizations (HCO) often utilize custom code systems when documenting in their own internal EMR. While this may be effective for the practice, it lacks standardization and relevancy to another provider viewing data in the HIE. HealthTerm enables an organization to import custom code system(s) and map to the preferred standard code system. This ensures all codes ingested, are then displayed in a common, relevant, unified code system.
“SHIEC is a valuable resource for the health information exchange community, and provides support on many levels to its members. We recognized this value of SHIEC and knew CareCom could help HIEs sift through, standardize and categorize their data. That standardization is essential to these organizations and their overall sustainability.” Said Jacob Boye Hansen CEO of CareCom U.S.
“SHIEC is excited to have CareCom U.S. join the SB&T Partner program,” said Kelly Hoover Thompson, CEO of SHIEC. “SB&T Partners are selected based on their ability to bring unique, value-added solutions to o ur HIE community members. We know some of our members might struggle with a single source of truth for code systems and effective ways to map codes. CareCom U.S. provides the tools and expertise to support our members financial and operational goals. SHIEC looks forward to working with CareCom U.S.”
