Who We Serve

CareCom and HealthTerm have their roots in work with government entities; in 1999, CareCom was founded to answer the call from the Danish government for translation services from SNOMED CT in English to Danish. HealthTerm continues to provide value to government agencies today. HealthTerm can offer data governance and increased interoperability to both national and regional agencies around the world. Often, terminology publishers fall under government entities, as well. HealthTerm acts as a terminology management platform, providing ease in creating, managing, referencing, and distributing terminology.

HealthTerm helps Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) to effectively exchange information from one organization to another. HealthTerm aims to create a standard language through the normalization of clinical data, which resides in a variety of code systems—from national standards to local code systems. This allows HIEs to provide higher quality, more accurate data to its members. Therefore, patient safety is increased and patient outcomes and quality measure reporting are improved. HealthTerm assists HIEs in helping their members create a complete, longitudinal history of patients, in order to better be of service to them.

HealthTerm has the ability to be integrated into electronic health record and electronic medical record software. Through this integration, HealthTerm helps to manage code system updates, maintenance subsets of clinical codes used for filters and content in dropdowns, empowers a more accurate capture of clinical information by allowing it to be represented at the appropriate level of clinical detail, providers mapping for standardization, and allows for grouping for sensitivity and patient content. In standardizing the data housed in your EHR or EMR system, HealthTerm helps to effectively share information at different points of care.

In the analysis of healthcare data for population health insights, data from a variety of sources needs to be leveraged. These data sources are disparate, since a wide range of data sources, in turn, employ a wide variety of code systems—from national code standards to local code systems—to record clinical information. HealthTerm standardizes this data through its mapping function, creating crosswalks from one code system to another. Through this normalization of clinical data, HealthTerm integrates the disparate data into a single source, providing you with your reference terminology, which can now be used to create meaningful analytics.

HealthTerm can help healthcare systems to improve in a variety of areas, including patient care, billing, and data quality. HealthTerm can help to reduce work hours spent on managing code updates and billing, can improve billing to maximize revenue cycle, helps to achieve data governance, improves analytics and therefore can maximize quality measure reporting. Most importantly, patient safety is improved through more accurate clinical documentation. HealthTerm also has privacy measures put in place to ensure only appropriate access is given for information flagged for sensitive diagnoses or patient content.

HeathTerm has a wide variety of functions and use cases. Through creating a common language among healthcare data, clinical information can move beyond data silos. By standardization of clinical data, HealthTerm helps to achieve interoperability and creates a single source of truth. Through this single reference source, data can be more effectively leveraged for many different use cases, including analytics, administration, management, storing, and maintenance and distribution of code systems. HealthTerm can be used alone or integrated into an existing software system, in order to fit your uses and needs.
